Innovation and Bureaucracy
Cramm says she frequently hears business leaders' frustration that IT doesn't spend nearly as much time innovating to advance the business as they'd like. She also says that "almost every IT professional" shares that frustration. Yet the sheer amount of time IT spends on responding to project requests and maintenance hinders their progress in innovation. Cramm foresees a future where the typical business leader is reasonably "IT-smart" and self-sufficient enough to handle his own day-to-day IT needs and free IT to innovate. IT can facilitate this by showing business partners the simple solutions they can use to reduce their dependence on IT.
